Want to know more about electric kilns? Whether you're curious about how they work, eager to refine your firing schedules and kiln controller skills, or simply looking to improve your loading techniques, this workshop is perfect for satisfying your electric kiln curiosities! Students will understand how to use electric kilns for safely firing ceramics. They will also gain a basic understanding of what happens to clays and glazes when they are fired. The following will be covered in detail during the workshop: -What is a kiln and how does it work -Safely using an electric kiln -Preparing the kiln for firing ceramics -Firing techniques Students may bring one mug-sized piece (approx. 5"x5"x5") piece of bisqueware to be glazed and fired. Please note that you must have experience with dipping glazes. This is not a workshop on how to glaze your work.
What to bring
One piece of bisqueware sized 5"x5"x5" or smaller.
Where you’ll be
There is additional parking behind the studio just off of E19th street. If you are parking in the back, please enter the studio from the front entrance located on Park Blvd
Cancellation Policy
One-Time & Workshop Cancellation & Refund Policy: If you need to cancel your class, you must email info@merrittceramics.com 48 hours in advance to receive a refund minus a $10 transaction fee. After that time there is no refund or rescheduling. Any rescheduling at any time, if available, will cost $10.
