About this event
Enjoy the holiday season with a creative and tasty workshop! In this 3 hour workshop, we will be handbuilding and carving two sets of ceramic copitas while tasting Mezcals from Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Chihuahua. Copita Making - Drawing inspiration from traditional Mexican copitas, participants will create two distinct styles of copitas. Style 1: Students will learn how to pinch pot with texture and/or facial features. Style 2: Students will learn the technique of sgraffito to intricately carve images and patterns onto pre-made leather-hard clay. All copitas made at the workshop will be left at the studio to dry, be glazed, and fired by Merritt Ceramics. All finished copitas will be ready for pick up after the holiday closure (Jan 4th.) All supplies and materials are included. Level: All levels. Great for beginners! Mezcal Tasting - We are so excited to host this workshop with Hugo Gonzalez, an agave educator at ODIN Mezcaleria and a brand ambassador for Lamata Spirits, MDM maestros del Mezcal, Cuish Mezcales, Sanzekan Mezcales, Cumbrita de la Sierra, and more. Hugo will guide us on a journey from North to South Mexico, tasting agave distillates from Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Chihuahua. All participants must be ages 21+.
